報(bào)告摘要：This workshop adopts a discussion-oriented format to explore the use of the qualitative interview within mixed methods research. It will highlight the flexibility of the interview as a data collection method through case studies that combine interviews with questionnaire-based surveys and document analysis. Particular emphasis will be placed on the integration of different data collection methods and the value of data triangulation. The workshop will also address specific challenges of conducting interviews, including preparation, the role of the interviewer, and ethical considerations.
報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介：Krystyna Warchal is Associate Professor at the Institute of Linguistics, University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. Her research interests include genre analysis, academic discourse, and science communication, with particular focus on English for research publication purposes, digital genres, and multilingualism in knowledge dissemination.She leads the research team Digital Genres and Multilingualism in Knowledge Dissemination based at the University of Silesia. Her recent publications include “Attitudes towards English for Research Publication in a Multilingual Context” (2024, Journal of English for Academic Purposes) and “Facts, Hopes, and Fears: Recontextualising Experimental Drug Results for Diverse Audiences” (2025, Discourse Context & Media).
